The beginnings of prehistoric medicine

The beginnings of folk medicine or home medicine in prehistoric times depended on a trial-and-er system; Where some plants were used as food

to know which of them are poisonous and which of them have medicinal value and help to heal from diseases

It should be noted that magic and religion played a major role at that time, as giving herbal medicine or treatment was accompanied by incantation, dancing, and some tricks of magicians, so the first doctors in ancient times were magicians and charlatans.

Medicine of the ancient Egyptians

It was noted that the oldest records of medicine came from the Egyptian civilization.

The archaeologists discovered some of the records and written manuscripts describing the ancient medical practices of the Egyptians, including knowledge of the human body. By studying mummified mummies, knowing how the heart and blood vessels work, and some advice on skin and dental problems, in addition to examining broken bones, and treating burns.

Aristotle's views influenced scientific thinking for the next two millennia.

Aristotle is considered the first biologist to have studied biology and laid the foundation for comparative anatomy and embryology.

A doctor named Asclepiades paid special attention to mental patients, distinguishing between hallucinations and delusions, prescribing music and wine to calm them, and
exercises to improve attention and memory.

Medieval medicine

The Middle Ages is one of the worst stages in the history of medicine. Newborn deaths increased, and about 20% of children died before they reached their first year. Many women lost their lives during childbirth

and the autopsy were prohibited, so doctors did not understand what the human body is or what happens inside it.

The real development of medicine

starts with The discovery of important scientific theories such as William Harvey's discovery of the circulation of blood in 1628, and Anton Vann's observations on bacteria in 1683.

and from the twentieth century Science and medicine made huge leaps such as:

The invention of the electrocardiogram.

The discovery of blood groups in 1901.

The discovery of penicillin in the 1930s

He did the Human Genome Project

The first plastic surgery was performed in 1967.

the success of the first face transplant in 2005,

leg transplantation in 2011, and uterine transplantation in 2013.

Medicine still has many strides to go. Despite all this development and success, there are some diseases that medicine is impotent in front of, such as some types of cancer, Alzheimer's, Ebola, and AIDS.

And just as every discovery and invention come from science, knowledge and application of it, here in the Compatancy-based medical program you can take your first step to take part in completing the chain of development of medicine

Set your goals, make your plans and take step
